About LSU Health Foundation, New Orleans

The LSU Health Foundation, New Orleans is an institutionally-related 501(c)(3) organization that supports LSU Health Sciences Center – New Orleans and its fourfold mission of education, patient care, research, and community outreach. The mission of the Foundation is to inspire donors to invest in the LSU Health Sciences Center - New Orleans and its future and to properly steward those contributions, and to help meet the ever-evolving needs of the LSU Health Sciences Center - New Orleans by providing new philanthropic and business resources, partnerships, programs, real estate, and property leases, auxiliary businesses and other services that support and strengthen the educational and community mission of the LSU Health Sciences Center.

Summary/Objective

Directs and coordinates fundraising efforts for the Foundation and coordinates institution-wide fundraising activity within the school. Holds a generalized portfolio supporting the School of Dentistry.

Essential Functions

  • Works with the Chief Development Officer and Dean of the LSU School of Dentistry to identify and cultivate sources of funding
  • Leads the solicitation of major gifts for defined school and institutional priorities
  • Maintains a portfolio of high potential prospects and collaborates with the foundation development team to coordinate cultivation and solicitation strategies to close gifts to drive private support for the school and institution
  • Leads the strategic development of relationships with donors and prospects in a manner that best meets the needs of the donor and maximizes fundraising potential for institutional priorities
  • Collaborates with the Dean, Associate deans, Department Chairs, Program Directors, faculty, and staff to prepare and submit private funding proposals
  • Responsible for coordinating donor stewardship plans for assigned prospects
  • Establishes and maintains strong and effective relationships
  • Plans fundraising events that effectively communicate the purposes of the organization
  • Utilizes constituency database to coordinate donor plans and donor recognition as well as report on progress of activity
  • Sets annual monetary goals and budgets to plan and implement short, medium, and long-range fundraising programs
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in fundraising, public relations, and alumni relations
  • Must have proven track record soliciting gifts of $25k and greater
  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge
  • Extensive knowledge of fundraising strategies and principles
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software

In addition, a successful team member in this role must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience managing development and/or alumni databases. Proficiency in database administration, prospect and constituent management, data imports and exports, developing reports.
  • Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledgeable of applicable tax laws, the fund-raising process, and the concept of donor relations as well as some basic bookkeeping
  • Must be organized, be proactive, take initiative, resolve problems, follow through, and simultaneously manage multiple priorities to ensure goals are met in a timely manner
  • Strong understanding of data mining and predictive modeling tools and techniques
  • Strong analytic and data interpretation skills; self-motivated in applying research and analytic abilities in meaningful ways to support the Foundation’s fundraising goals
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in a high-performing, fast-paced professional environment
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Demonstrated success in working independently but also collaboratively in a team setting
  • Ability to envision and execute new ways to deliver value to donors

Travel

Regular travel may be required for this position.

Compensation

Salary will be commensurate with experience. Benefits include medical insurance, employer-paid dental, vision, long-term disability, AD&D and life insurance, as well as access to contributions to a 403(b) plan, paid parking, PTO and company holidays.
